South Shore

Rich in history and beauty, the south shore region offers a variety of lifestyle options. The South Shore is the coastal region south of Boston to Cape Cod, bordering Massachusetts Bay and Cape Cod Bay. Often, there are a few more inland towns included in this region, though, too. South Shore towns include Hingham, Hull, Cohasset, Scituate, Marshfield, Pembroke, Norwell, Hanover, Weymouth, Duxbury, Kingston, Plymouth, Quincy, Braintree.

Incorporated in 1635, Hingham is one of the oldest towns in America and is one of the most well-rounded and well-known towns on the south shore. Hingham holds a significant Naval history, playing a prominent role in the building of ships during World War II.   There is a lot to take in here, from the beautiful, historical buildings and homes that line Main Street to Hingham Harbor and Wompatuck State Park’s natural beauty. Located just 8 miles southeast of Boston, the commute into the city is easy, whether by boat, train, or car. 

 

Scituate is a small, oceanside town located equidistant between Boston and Plymouth. This small town offers a beautiful mix of rural, suburban, and seaside lifestyles.

South Shore communities invest in their schools, and their students reap the rewards. Kindergarten through high school students have excellent public school facilities and programs and score among the highest in the state in many South Shore towns.
